2010 Laws Passed:

     SB 346 - Sen. Rogers' Major Tax Reform Bill
     HB 169 - Tax Assessors to provide names/addresses to DNR for
                       Floodplain Notification
     HB 1055 - Eliminates the state 1/4 mil ad valorem tax by 2016
     HB 1405 - Creates a 2010 Special Council on Tax Reform (Supposedly
                         does not include property tax)
     HB 1105 - Extends the Sunset on ad valorem tax exemption for
                         watercraft inventory for 2 years.

Governor Vetoed: (subject to verification)

     HB 1028 - Changes to Forest Land Protection Act (F-CUVA)
     HB 1082 - Expands the Freeport Exemption to include all inventory
                            (subject to local approval)

2009 Laws Passed:

HB 233 is now Law! Governor Perdue signed the bill on May 6. This law imposes a statewide moratorium on assessment increases (with certain exceptions) for 3 tax years beginning with 2009.

HB 304 is now Law! This new law requires assessors, appraisers, and our contractors to provide "reasonable notice" to owners and occupants prior to performing site visits.

SB 240 is now law! This creates a binding arbitration appeals process for value disputes on real property only. It also changes some wording on the Change of Assessment Notice as well as other important provisions.

SB 55 is now LAW! Governor Perdue signed the bill on April 14. This bill extends the application deadline for filing for F-CUVA to June 1 for 2009 only. Effective immediately, County assessors are now required to send Change of Assessment Notice whenever they change values, both up and down. Counties also must now consider foreclosures, bank sales, etc. when determining fair market value.

HB 318 Is now Law! 1 Yr Limited Exemption for Heavy Duty Equipment.
